What You Should Know About Dental Bridges

Posted .

If you’re missing teeth, you know that tasks that were once simple can be more difficult. For instance, if you’re missing a few of your pearly whites, you could struggle to say certain words. Similarly, chewing can be unpleasant or even painful. Luckily, if you’re facing these issues, there are a number of dental restorations you can consider—including a dental bridge.

Typically, a dental bridge is made up of at least three teeth: an artificial tooth positioned between two crowns. These artificial teeth—which are known as pontics—are designed to look and feel like your natural teeth. Once you’ve had a bridge placed, you could improve the appearance of your smile and your ability to chew, speak, and eat. Furthermore, a bridge can stop your natural teeth from shifting.

Dental bridges are made to fit comfortably in your smile. While they are not complicated to place, please note that the process may take two visits. Our team will need to make a mold of your teeth before we can place your crown. A temporary crown will be placed until your new restoration is ready. This temporary crown will provide you with many of the same benefits of a permanent crown while you wait.
